Energy Task Force
In 2001, Jim Beall called for the creation of an Energy Task Force in his State of the County address. The goal was to reduce electrical consumption by 10%. This was achieved but with a 20% reduction in two years. The Energy Task Force recommendations also resulted in $8.8 million in ongoing savings to the County as of October 2004. In addition, over 500 energy conservation projects were completed between FY 2001 and FY 2004.
