Housing Issues
• Voted to open up lands that were not appropriate for industrial uses (i.e.
Edenvale and North San Jose) for residential development.
• Supported Master Plan developments for Silver Creek and
Commuiucations Hill. A portion of the Silver Creek Master Plan is
complete. Communications Hill will be developed in the future.
• Worked to develop an expedited development review process and a
streamlined building permit process.
• Obtained millions of dollars in federal and state funds for infrastructure
improvements that otherwise would have had to be paid for by the
developers.
• Co-authored the creation of the Housing Department, and worked to
increase city funds for home loans and affordable housing projects.
• Approved, during the General Plan 2020 update, lowering the trigger
mechanisms required for development in the Coyote Valley.
