A special program in Santa Clara County to keep pre-delinquent youngsters and those beyond parental control out of the Juvenile Justice System received funding approval by the California Council on Criminal Justice. Nearly 15,000 youngsters referred t the SCC Juveline Probation Dept. during the year ending in July of 1971, about one-third, or 5,000 children, where not charged with crimes. Projected intended to find a better method for these juveniles to separae them from the deliquency process. The $398,000 grant will develop methods which can be used to implement similar programs nationwide.
