Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara, State of California, Declaring a Local Emergency and Requesting the Governor to Issue Orders and Regulations
COUNTY OF SANTA CLAF^. STA
REQUESTING
>Mn regulations.
WHEREAS, gasoline has become increasingly in short supply
in the county of Santa Clara, local gasoline retailers having
received allocation cutbacks and therefore reducing service
hours, and such limited supplies creating long lines at local
gasoline stations and causing traffic congestion and other
related problems; and
WHEREAS, such facts require the implementation of a
mandatory gasoline marketing plan to provide relief from this
emergency situation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Santa Clara, State of California, that.
(a) This Board hereby declares a state of local emergency
within the territorial limits of the County of Santa Clara, such
emergency existing by virtue of the fact that gasoline has
become increasingly in short supply in the County of Santa Clara,
local gasoline retailers having received allocation cutbacks and
therefore reducing service hours, and such limited supplies
creating long lines at local gasoline stations and causing traffic
congestion and other related problems; and
(bl This Board hereby requests the Governor of the State of
California, pursuant to the authority granted by section 8567 of
the Government Code of the State of California, to issue the
necessary orders and regulations pertaining to the California
gasoline emergency and governing and restricting the purchase of
gasoline; and
(cI This Board hereby requests the Governor to implement
such orders and regulations within the territorial limits of the
county of Santa Clara so that such orders and regulations are
applicable thereto.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board of
Supervisors is hereby directed to furnish copies of this resolu
tion to the Governor of the State of California, to the State
Office of Emergency Services, and to all cities located within
the County of Santa Clara.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Santa Clara, State of California, on
May 7. 1979
by the following vote:
