PAYS SPECIAL VISIT TO COUNTY
Anne Wexler, Assistant to President Jimmy Carter will make a special visit
to Santa Clara County on June 29. Accompanying Ms. Wexler will be Charles
Warren, Chief Counsel for Environmental (iuality.
Ms. Wexler and Warren will meet with the County Board of Supervisors,
the Mayor of San Jose, representatives from organized labor, the petroleum
industry, local business and community organizations.
"This is an exce=llent opportunity for our community to discuss our
energy problem with national representatives and get some answers", stated
Dominic Cortese, Chairperson of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.
Chairman Cortese met with Ms. Wexler when he was at the White House last
May 24, at the invitation of President Carter.to receive a briefing on the
SALT I I Treaty. At that time, Cortese took the opportunity to discuss the
energy crisis and invite Ms Wexler to Santa Clara County to confer with
community leaders concerning the local energy situation.
The meeting Is expected to cover a number of issues, including an update
on the energy crisis, the status of the national energy program, alternative
energy sources, relaxation of air pollution standards, the Department of
Energy's lack of action, and the SALT I I agreement.
