Dear Senator Baker:
I was extremelhy pleased to see you take the courageous
stand against the oil companies. I agree with you wholehe2u?tediy.
In my position as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors,
I recently took the same position. I am enclosing a copy
of my position paper. I have received many letters and
telephone calls iii support.
The situation in Santa Clara County is critical. The
public is outraged and will not carry the burden of stress
being placed upon them due to misinformation and obscene
oil company profits.
For your infoxmiation, I am enclosing a copy of the Odd/Even
Gasoline Plan which the Board of Supervisors asked Governor
Jerry Brown to implement. Even with this plan, the lines
are long and tempers are short.
I
Senator Baker, I would like to take this opportunity to in

If your schedule permits, and if you are out in the west
coast soon, please call me so we may set up a meeting or a
joint Press Conference.
