For Dominic Cortese's introduction of Anne Wexler
ANNE WEXLER is the Assistant to the President of the United States. She
is the highest ranking woman to serve on the White House Staff. Ms. Wexler
is responsible for de\eloping and administering efforts to support and carry
out Presidential priorities including the involvement of interested groups
and individuals in the making and implementation of poHcv. Prior to her
appointment, Anne Wexler had .served as Deputy L'nder Secretary of Com
merce since January 1977. At the Commerce Department she was respon
sible for the coordination of the Department'.^ programs and field operations,
and also acted as Special As.sistant to the Secretary for Regional Economic
Coordination and as Chairperson of the President's Task Force on Women
Business Owners.
Ms. Wexler has been active in the Democratic Party for over twenty
years. During the 1976 Presidential Campaign, Ms. Wexler served as a
member of the Carter/Mondale Campaign's National Steering Committee
and on the Democratic National Campaign Committee. She also served as
Soor leader for Jimmy Carter at the Democratic National Conventi<Mi.
