Westside Schools Children's Health Initiative
The Children's Health Initiative was a cooperative effort of the Board of Supervisors, Working Partnership USA, and People Acting in Community Together (PACT) to provide health coverage for every child whose parents have an income at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty level. The County created a managed health care plan named Healthy Kids to bridge the gap for families that had higher incomes than were required for Medi-Cal and the state- and federally funded Healthy Families program. The Westside Schools Children’s Health Initiative (WCHI) focused on outreach and enrollment for the Healthy Kids, Healthy Families, and Medi-Cal in the Moreland, Campbell Union Elementary, Campbell Union High, Cambrian, Union and Luther Burbank school districts.
