RECOMMENDED ACTION
Accept report from Children, Seniors, and Families Committee meeting of May 19, 2004.
a. Approve minutes of April 22, 2004.
Committee Action: Approved Minutes.
b. Consider recommendation from Social Services Agency relating to planning for
implementation of six-month pilot programs for services at the Children's Shelter and
Assessment Center.
Committee Action: Forward proposed Children Shelter Reuse Recommendations to the
Silicon Valley Children's Fund(SVCF)for their review and comment and directed
administration to continue to look for an alternative location for Family Court's
visitation center.

c. Consider County Executive's Fiscal Year 2005 Recommended Budget for departments
and agencies reporting to Children, Seniors, and Families Committee and forward
recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for consideration during the June Budget
Hearing.
Committee Action: Prepare and present options to partially restore the General Fund
Contracts budget reduction for the June 9, 2004, Children, Seniors and Families
Committee meeting.
d. Accept report from Health and Hospital System, Community Outreach Services, on
School-Linked Services' consent form for collection of client data regarding students'
school attendance.
Committee Action; Accepted report which describes how School-Linked Services will
use the new consent form and work with school district to collect more data.
e. Accept Educational Rights Project(ERP) Annual Report from Office of the County
Counsel.
Committee Action: Accepted Report.
f. Accept report from Social Services Agency(SSA)on funding, including use of
CalWORKs incentive funds, to backfill proposed budget reductions in Fiscal Year(FY)
2005 General Fund contracts, and on use of the Span of Control Study in SSA's FY
2005 budget reduction planning process.(Referral from Children, Seniors, and Families
Committee meeting on March 24, 2004.)
Committee Action: Accepted Report.
Announce next meeting of the Children, Seniors, and Families Committee scheduled on June
9, 2004, 10:00 a.m. in the Isaac Newton Senter Auditorium, First Floor, County Government
Center.
