Invitation to Task Force Meeting
Supervisor Beall, in collaboration with the County Executive’s Office and Social
Services Agency, would like to invite you to participate on a Blue Ribbon Task Force to
address the employment needs of emancipating and emancipated foster youth. The Task
Force will be charged with building three essential elements that will guarantee success
for this venture:
1. In collaboration with the Social Services Agency, establish an
employability/educational skill-building avenue for emancipating foster youth.
2. Work with the County Employee Services Agency to expand the successful
Welfare to Work unclassified position for foster youth.
3. Reach out to the Valley’s employer community to provide employment and paid
internship opportunities for deserving youth.
The following key partners have agreed to participate on a foster youth employment task
force:
Working Partnership USA
Silicon Valley Leadership Group
Santa Clara County Foster Parent Association
Silicon Valley Children’s Trust Fund
United Way
San Jose Business Chamber
Labor Council
Board ofSupervisors: Donald F. Gage, Bhmca Alvarado,Pete McHugh,James T. Beiill,Jr., Uz Kniss
County Executive: Peter Kutras,Jr.
The first meeting is scheduled for February 15, 2006, 3pm to 4pm, County Government
Center, Room 157, 70 West Hedding Street, San Jose. An agenda is attached.
It is expected that the Task Force will convene in February and March. Task Force
recommendations will be on the agenda for the Children, Seniors and Families
Committee in late April or early May. We thank you in advance for your willingness to
