Hi Doug- Please let me know if this is helpful, and if you have other questions we could answer. I'm
trying to get more info on the cities where our patients reside. Thanks! -Michele
Proposed project:
- Double the size of AACI's health clinic in order to serve more County residents
AACI health clinic:
- Opened in June 2000
- 5600 patient visits per year(we are at capacity, given the physical size of our clinic. If we expand, we
could do 12,000 patient visits per year.)
- Over 80% of the patients are low-income (below 200% of the federal poverty level)
- About 50% of patients are seniors
-71% of patients are non-English speaking, and another 8% are limited English-speaking
- Clinic is 1500 square feet(we hope to double the size to approximately 3000 square feet)
- In 2004, AACi and Valley Health Plan conducted a survey of patients at the AACI health clinic. There
were 330 respondents. 84% of patients reported they were very satisfied with the care they received, and
another 14% reported they were somewhat satisfied. When asked about where they go for health
services other than at the AACI clinic, 25% said they didn't go anywhere else, 23% didn't answer the
question, less than 2% named another county clinic, and 50% named private doctors in the area.
Expansion money will:
- Expand clinic from 5 to 10 exam rooms
- Create a new medication room to provide more free and low-cost medications to uninsured, low-income
patients
- Create two additional restrooms, making 2 of the 3 clinic restrooms handicapped-accessible
- Wire exam rooms for electronic health record readiness
- Create an enclosed laboratory room
- Create a room for patient education/family conference
Initial estimate of project costs:
- $209,000 for expansion/remodeling (based on contractor's assessment)
- $112,507 for medical and office equipment(based on information from vendors)
- Total: $321,507(does not include cost of relocating existing AACI staff to another part of our building)
